Association Involvement

The NSCA offers career enhancement opportunities that include volunteering for one of our committees, representing your state as a State/Provincial Director, serving on the Board of Directors, publishing an article in the Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research or the Strength and Conditioning Journal, participating in a special interest group, and presenting at or attending a NSCA conference or clinic.

Special Interest Groups

A Special Interest Group (SIG) provides members who share a common interest, the opportunity to network, share ideas, and address issues relating to their area of expertise and/or interest. SIGs hold meetings and provide networking opportunities through online forums and/or discussion groups. All NSCA members are eligible to join one or more SIGs.

State/Provincial Director

We support State and Provincial directors throughout the U.S. and Canada. These volunteers help keep members informed on a local level via notices in the Bulletin, online forums, and state/provincial newsletters. If you live in an area with an active local chapter, you can expect to receive newsletters that keep you informed about local issues and events.

You can also network with other members in your region in the online forums.

Speaker Resource Network

In an effort to supply experienced, qualified experts in strength and conditioning, we have created the NSCA Speaker Resource Network. The network is a listing of NSCA certified members who are willing to participate as public speakers in their specified area(s) of expertise during various events such as high school conferences, corporate fitness seminars, coaching clinics, sports camps, etc.

Media Experts

Many members of the media realize that the NSCA is a great resource. We receive calls from reporters who have questions ranging from general strength and conditioning topics to more specific inquiries about health, nutrition, injury rehabilitation, or sport-specific related issues.

Publish

Members are invited to publish in our cutting-edge journals.

Conferences

The NSCA Conference Committee invites members to submit presentation proposals for conferences.

Host a Certification Exam

Individuals wishing to have the CSCS® or NSCA-CPT® examination administered at a location close to them can apply to host an Exam on Request. The NSCA NSCA Certification and its examination service will make specific site arrangements and conduct the exam, and will also assist in promoting your exam. Exam hosts who are currently certified can earn CEUs from their work as Exam on Request hosts.

Committees

Committee	Function
Conference Committee	Designs, develops, and determines the programming for the NSCA’s National and Sport-Specific Training Conferences.
Education Committee	Supports the Education Department, and provides recommendations to the Board of Directors to enhance the educational services of the NSCA.
Finance Committee	Provides advice and counsel to the Board of Directors and National Headquarters staff on financial matters.
Membership Committee	Works directly with the Membership Director addressing issues regarding membership campaigns, benefits, retention, marketing, and other areas.
Research Committee	Promotes the exchange of ideas, philosophies, and technologies that can be used by the field practitioner to help the training of individuals for fitness and athletics.
Nominating Committee	Per the NSCA Bylaws, the Nominating Committee is independent of the President and Board. Members of the Nominating Committee are elected by the membership of the association. The Nominating Committee is responsible for selecting the most qualified candidates to run for President, Board of Directors, and Nominating Committee positions.
Student Assistantship Committee	Oversee the Student Assistantship (SA) Program and recommends the most qualified candidates to work with a selected Coach Practitioners and receive the stipend from the NSCA to complete their assistantship.
State/Provincial Directors’ Committee	Works to increase NSCA membership, facilitate the flow and exchange of information between the State/Provincial Directors and the NSCA Board of Directors in an effort to increase awareness of the NSCA, and support the State/Provincial Directors’ Program.

Board of Directors

There are 9 volunteer members who sit on the Board of Directors for three years. The seats are staggered for continuity on the Board. The Board members are elected by the NSCA membership through annual elections.
