All high school coaches are invited to attend the High School Special Interest Group meeting at the Coaches Conference in Indianapolis - Friday, January 10th from 2:00-3:00.

Carwyn Sharp - NSCA Director of Education will present a proposed lifting certificate:

"The rationale is based on the feedback and questions we have received that a number of HS coaches would like a practically based certificate/certification which focuses on the core lifts being taught, executed and programmed correctly. So we have put together a rough draft of what it could look like in a 2 day course. What we’re looking for is feedback from a larger number of people on 1) whether there is genuine broad interest in something like this, and 2) whether what we currently have a draft of is close to what HS coaches might be looking for. We want to provide both members and non-members with tools they can genuinely use so we wanted to get member input before proceeding.

My hope is that if the SIG is receptive we could use this as a forum in both directions where myself or other NSCA staff can come and SIG members can tell us what we should be doing for them and likewise we can come back and ask for input on what we are thinking of providing."

This meeting is also an opportunity to speak up about any ideas that you have on how the NSCA can better meet the needs of the high school coach .  We are looking for ideas on 1.  how we can make the forum more interactive/used , 2.  whether a newsletter or blog could be started that would allow sharing of information and 3.  how we can get high school athletic adminstrators to see the importance of getting certified professionals to run their strength programs.

Hope to see you in Indy.
