I am studying for the CSCS and am confused about the answer to Q4, chapter 4 of the Baechle and Earl Text:

'During a free weight exercise, muscle force varies with which of the following?

I. perpendicular distance from the weight to the body joint

II. joint angle

III. movement acceleration

IV. movement velocity squared

a. I and III only

b. II and IV only

c. I, II and III only

d. II, III and IV only'

I was pretty confident the answer was c but the book says the answer is actually a, meaning muscle force does not vary with joint angle.

Is this a book error or am I missing something fundamental?

Thanks for taking the time to reply.  This 1 question is frustrating the hell out of me.
